Games4Sustainability

Broken cities is a game which focuses on competing for the top place among all landlords in a city. The prime question each player has to ask themselves is: am I going to be a polluting, profit chasing slumlord, or a green-minded, real estate mogul?

Gameplay

The game is divided into rounds. During each round, each player has one turn.

The player with the lowest rent at the beginning of the round goes first, followed by the player with the next lowest rent until all players have had one turn.

During turns, players are able to build green spaces and buildings from where they have revenue.

Each decision affects the climate.

When the city’s emissions hit a peak, players have to fix environmental problems by collaborating on legislation.
