In the Before the storm  game, players take a peek into a weather forecast and learn its importance. Accurate weather forecast can save lives if one know how to appropriately react to the given info. The Before the storm game lets the players choose proper preparedness action, and  even, encourages them to think about their own ideas to how to protect themselves and theirs assets against the changing weather.

Gameplay

Facilitator explains the rules of the game.

Depending on the given role players make a disaster preparedness plan using data from weather forecasts or recommend one or more actions that could be taken in this situation.

The roles are passed each round so each player has a chance to widen his/her perspective.

Facilitator presents the results of the game and starts debriefing.

Thanks to Players’ participation  in different roles in the decision-making process, they learn how to react fast to orders and lead others in case of emergency.
